It is the role of the solution-focused executive coach to help turn problems and challenges into goals, and to help identify the pathways to achieve them by drawing on the client’s competencies, successes, resources and supports.

In its purest form, solution-focused executive coaching:

  • Helps clients to set their own goals and plan how to achieving them
  • Aims to reveal and provoke thoughts and explore possibilities, but not to teach
  • Draws on existing competencies, strengths and supports
  • Seeks to facilitate emotional and behavioural change progressively but quickly
  • Is unconditionally supportive



Neuropsychotherapy recognises that for permanent emotional or behavioural change to occur there must be a change in neural pathways and, to some extent at least, brain development and functionality. How we think, react and behave are the result of the physical design, connections and processes of our brain, and so it is impossible to change one without changing the other. By helping clients to understand how their thoughts and brain processes influence and shape one another, they will be better able to create, manage and sustain the positive changes they are seeking. Common outcomes are improved self-awareness, self-management, stress management, problem-solving and relationships.

Key components of neuropsychotherapy include:

  • An unconditionally safe environment and therapeutic relationship
  • Sharing of feelings, perspectives, challenges and goals
