Manbulloo is an Australian horticultural business specialising in growing, packing, marketing, and distributing the highest quality mangoes and avocados, with seven farms across NT and Northern Queensland

Manbulloo is proud to deliver the best tasting mangoes to customers within Australia and overseas each year. Manbulloo takes as much pride in being a fair and compassionate employer, with many seasonal workers returning year after year.

The role

We are currently seeking a career-minded Farm Hand / potential 2IC to help manager Luke at our iconic Manbulloo Farm, near Katherine NT.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Implementing weekly and seasonal plans as discussed with the Farm Manager, including canopy management, irrigation, pest and disease management, weed management and so on
  • Mixing and spraying
  • Crop inspections and monitoring
  • Maintaining activity records
  • Inspecting, cleaning and maintaining equipment and irrigation systems
  • Assisting with harvest in the field or the shed, as required
  • Operating tractors and other farm machinery
  • Other duties as required by the Farm Manager

As you’d expect, this is a hands-on role first and foremost. However, there is an element of leadership of self and others involved too, so you’ll need to take responsibility, show initiative and interact well with people.

To be successful in the position you will probably have had experience working on a farm before, but integrity, work ethic and application are the most important things:

  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment competently and safely
  • A solid work ethic
  • Good self and time management
  • Task focus and diligence
  • Flexibility in moving from task to task easily
  • Reasonable reading, writing and numeracy skills
  • A calm, positive attitude, and willingness to get in and do the job efficiently and effectively

This is a permanent full-time role, with interesting up-skilling and career pathways available. A salary will be negotiated to recognize your current skills and future potential. On-site accommodation is potentially available, subject to various considerations we can discuss if that’s important to you. If you like a truly rural lifestyle, with all the space and peace of the Australia that most people rarely see, this is the place for it.

As for confidence and job satisfaction, you’ll be shown how to do things you are not experienced in, but you won’t be micromanaged – Luke will give you every chance to take ownership and feel a real sense of pride in your achievements.

If you would like to work and build your career in horticulture, especially in the highly skilled field of mangoes, why not learn with Australia’s best?
