Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – Mount Gambier

The fleet is all modern NHVR accredited European prime movers that provide high standards of comfort and safety to our drivers. Our trailers are custom-built with a variety of systems (air, hydraulics, electrics) and some really cool electronics too.

The role

We are currently looking for an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic with specialist skills in trailers to maintain our fleet of tankers. With a commitment to quality in customer service, safety and professionalism, this is an important and valued role within the team.

The workshop is well equipped and along with servicing, maintenance and repairs, you can expect to be involved with some really cool and innovative projects too. The variety of systems on the trailers also means there is a lot to keep you interested and busy every day.

Standard hours are 4 days a week, 10 hours per day, but if you prefer a 5-day roster that’s OK too. You will be on call out-of-hours, but call-outs should be infrequent.

You

You’ll need evidence of:

  • Mechanical experience (minimum 3 years) specialising in heavy vehicles and trailers
  • Familiarity with air systems and hydraulics, comfort with some electronics
  • A proven ability to plan, prioritise and manage your own time & work, as well as troubleshoot the unexpected.
  • Good personal behaviours, including discipline, hygiene and communication
  • Past performance to a highly professional standard
  • A truck driving license (HR or above)
  • Formal qualification as a heavy vehicle mechanic, with other relevant certifications and records of skills updates looked upon favourably too.

The primary focus is on the trailers, air, hydraulics, brakes, electrics and some pretty cool systems, so you’ll need to show that you have expertise in this area. Welding skills are also highly valued.
